One estate, one wine: Ribera without the makeup.

Ben: This is the estate reading its whole home plateau in a single wine — La Revilla, 915 metres up, limestone under everything. 2020 was a cool, rainy year and they worked with it gently: the grapes were steeped rather than pumped around, and only a quarter of the barrels were new wood. The label carries a lithograph of the vineyard it comes from.

In your glass: A big red with unusual freshness: warm dark fruit first, then the cool-year snap. Because the grapes were steeped gently instead of pumped around, the drying grip stays at black-tea level. Pick it when you want Ribera on the table without the oak perfume.

Serve it: 15 minutes in the fridge if the room is warm.
